Band story and booking context

The Legends of Rock and Roll is a specialty show built around music from the mid 60s and the 70s, with original artists from that era sharing the stage in one package.

The lineup includes John Townsend of the Sanford Townsend Band, whose hit Smoke from a Distant Fire is listed at number 28 on Yacht Rock Radio’s Top 100 Hits, along with Dennis Tufano, the voice of the Buckinghams, known for Kind of a Drag, Don’t You Care, Susan, and Mercy Mercy.

Also featured are Cannibal and the Headhunters, known for Land of a Thousand Dances, Buzz Buzz Buzz, Barefootin, and I Wanna Know Your Name, and Terry Sylvester from the Hollies, with Long Cool Woman and The Air That I Breathe, both noted in Yacht Radio’s Top 50.

Cannibal and the Headhunters back the whole show. The program is hosted by radio personality Shot Gun Tom Kelly from Sirius Radio 60s Gold Channel 73.

In addition to the songs, the show includes stories tied to these records and artists. All four acts in the show were inducted into the California Music Hall of Fame in 2023.
